VisitorPing vs Vercel Web Analytics
Vercel Web Analytics is built into the Vercel dashboard: enable it on a project, add their package or script, deploy, and you get top pages, referrers, countries, devices and browsers without cookies. If your app already lives on Vercel and what you want is a tidy count of your traffic, it is the obvious first step. It reports totals over time. VisitorPing reports the individual visit while it is happening, which is a different question.
What Vercel Web Analytics does better
- • It sits in the dashboard you already deploy from, with nothing new to sign up for.
- • Available on every Vercel plan, with a monthly event allowance included on Hobby.
- • No cookies: visitors are counted with a hash of the request that resets every day, so nobody can be followed across days or sites.
- • Custom events and feature-flag breakdowns on paid plans, for product questions VisitorPing does not try to answer.
What VisitorPing does that it does not
- • A push notification on your phone when someone arrives, rather than a chart you check later.
- • One visit at a time: the page this visitor is on, where they came from, and whether they have been before. Vercel's daily hash is designed not to recognise someone who returns the next day.
- • Not tied to a host. Vercel's setup is part of a Vercel project and its deployments; VisitorPing is a script tag on any site.
- • Guides for chat-built apps on Lovable, Base44, Bolt and Replit, with a check that the tag actually reached the live page.
Side by side
| Aspect | Vercel Web Analytics | VisitorPing |
|---|---|---|
| What it answers | How much traffic, from where, over time | Who is on the site now, one visit at a time |
| How you find out | You open the project's Analytics tab | Your phone buzzes |
| Returning visitors | Not recognised across days, by design | Recognised with a first-party identifier |
| Where it runs | Projects deployed on Vercel | Any site that can load a script tag |
| Price | On every plan, within usage limits | Paid — see our pricing |
Which should you use
If your app is on Vercel, turn Web Analytics on — it answers how much traffic you have and costs little or nothing to start. VisitorPing is for when a single visit matters: someone on your pricing page now, or the first real user of something you shipped last week. The two answer different questions and can run on the same site.
