What your connection tells every website.
Below is what we worked out about you from this page load, and how accurate each part actually is. Your IP address was used to look it up and then discarded.
- Country
x-vercel-ip-country
United States (US)The most reliable field. Country is right for the overwhelming majority of connections.
- Region
x-vercel-ip-country-region
OHState or province. Usually right, though it can be wrong for mobile networks that route traffic through a distant hub.
- City
x-vercel-ip-city
ColumbusThe least reliable field. It reflects where the network says the address lives, which is often the nearest large city rather than where anyone is.
- Time zone
x-vercel-ip-timezone
America/New_YorkDerived from the same lookup. Useful for knowing whether someone is browsing during their working day.
- Approximate coordinates
x-vercel-ip-latitude / x-vercel-ip-longitude
39.96, -83.00The centre of the area the address maps to — typically a city or a region, never a building or a person.
- Network
x-vercel-ip-as-number
AS16509The network the connection came through — a home ISP, a mobile carrier, a cloud provider, or a company's own network. This is what makes business traffic identifiable without identifying anybody.
How precise is this?
City-level at best, and often no better than regional. Nothing here identifies a person, a household or a device.
- Your IP address was used to look these up and was not stored. It is not in this page, not in our database, and not in our logs — which is why it is not shown back to you.
- Every website you visit receives your IP address. It is how the reply finds you; a site cannot answer a request without one.
- Accuracy varies. VPNs, corporate networks and mobile carriers routinely place a connection hundreds of miles from the person using it.
Why we built this the hard way
VisitorPing tells you a visitor is a construction firm in Denver without ever keeping the address that revealed it. The lookup happens once, at the edge, and the result is a city and a network name — the address itself is compared and dropped in memory, and never reaches our database. This page runs exactly that path on you, which is a more honest demonstration than a paragraph promising it.
It also shows the limits. If the city above is wrong, that is the same imprecision every analytics product works with, including ours — worth knowing before you make a decision based on where someone appears to be.
Find what is costing you search clicks, then watch the fix work.
VisitorPing reads your own Search Console data for the pages losing clicks, then rings your phone the moment someone lands on your website.
