How to get more calls from your website.
Most sites do not need more visitors. They need the visitors they already have to find the phone number and have a reason to use it. Start there, because it is faster and cheaper than ranking higher.
Make the number impossible to miss
The phone number should be visible without scrolling, on every page, and it should be a tel: link so a tap dials it. A number that has to be copied is a number that does not get called.
This sounds too obvious to mention and it is wrong on a large share of the sites we check.
Give a reason to call now
People call when calling is the fastest route to an answer they want. Prices, availability and how quickly you can come out are the three that generate calls in trades and services.
A page that says nothing about cost sends people to a competitor who does — not because they are cheaper, but because they answered.
Remove the reasons not to
Each of these loses calls quietly.
- • A slow page on mobile. People leave before the number appears.
- • A contact form as the only option. Some people will never fill one in.
- • No indication of hours, so calling feels like a gamble.
- • No service area, so a visitor cannot tell whether you cover them.
Find out where they were when they gave up
The useful signal is which page someone was on when they left without calling. If everyone reaches the pricing page and stops, that page is the problem — not your ranking, and not your traffic.
That is what a real-time alert gives you that a monthly report does not: the shape of the visit while it is still recoverable.
