VisitorPing vs Matomo
Matomo is the most complete analytics platform you can run on your own server. If keeping visitor data entirely under your control matters — for policy, procurement or principle — it is the answer, and no hosted tool including ours competes with that.
What Matomo does better
- • Self-hosting means the data never leaves infrastructure you control.
- • Feature depth close to Google Analytics, including goals, funnels and ecommerce.
- • Open source, with no vendor able to change terms on you.
- • Includes session recording and heatmaps in its own right.
What VisitorPing does that it does not
- • Nothing to host, patch or back up.
- • An alert during the visit rather than a dashboard afterwards.
- • Search Console analysis presented as specific pages to fix.
Side by side
| Aspect | Matomo | VisitorPing |
|---|---|---|
| Where data lives | Your server, if you self-host | Our infrastructure |
| Setup | Install and maintain, or pay for cloud | One script |
| Depth | Full analytics platform | Narrow, by design |
Which should you use
If data ownership is the requirement, Matomo and stop reading. If it is not, ask whether anyone will maintain the server — a neglected self-hosted analytics install is worse than a hosted one.

Find what is costing you search clicks, then watch the fix work.
VisitorPing reads your own Search Console data for the pages losing clicks, then rings your phone the moment someone lands on your website.
